This Week in Europe
Issue 24 October 27, 2007
The goal of this section is to give you all the informations about diplomacy in Europe.

This week on Monday

Because of my work, I'm very upset and tired on Thursday and Friday. Since the end of August, I published This week each two weeks. Now I decided to move This week on Monday and I will be able to publish it each week.

Borås Spelkonvent : November 2-4

The Borås Spelkonvent will be the Swedish NDC and step of the European Grand Prix. Organized by Tage Bengtsson and Björn Westling.
C-diplo-related scoring, 4 rounds, no top board.
Team tournament Saturday morning. Diptimer, and all the common stuff,

Accomodation either by using the cheap solution: sleeping in the big sleeping hall at the convention together with 1-200 other game freaks. (Bring your own sleeping bag!)
Or, using the nearby (200 yards) hotel, supplying rooms for 275-600 SEK (30-65 Euros per night) depending of number of persons in room. Early registration recommended, not many rooms around. Finding other rooms on the town might be tricky since the city is full of activities this weekend.

Borås is a 40 minute busride from Landvetter airport, and about 2 hours of common transportation away from Göteborg City (Ryan Air) airport.
Email for closer information.
International players coming to play solely at the Diplomacy NDC gets free registration provided they announce their participation ahead of convention start.
If international players wants to take part in ANY other activities organized at the convention, full convention fee is charged. (Registration before oct 20th EUR 22, thereafter EUR 33.)
Email to tbmark10@yahoo.se for registration, questions or additional info.

NK Voorronde Leeuwarden : October 28

The NK Voorronde is qualifying tournament for the Dutch Championship (Nederland Kampioenschap = NK). There are 2 NK Voorronde and the 3 best players of each are qualified for the Final. The last player qualified for the final is the Dutch Chamion.
This year, Pieter Ytsma, Rene Van rooijen, Ronald Lokers and Thijs Feenstra are qualified for the final. This Sunday, three other players will be qualified, and I will try to be one of these players.

Danish NDC : the previous weekend

The previous weekend, the Danish NDC took place in Hobro. I'm still waiting for the complete results, but we know that Gwen Maggi won it. Gwen Maggi remains at the first position of the European Grand Prix and seems in a good way to win the Grand Prix this year.
There are only 3 steps now : Sweden (2-4 November), Norway (November 23-25) and France (December 8-9).

French NDC : December 8-9

This year, the French NDC will be the last step of the European Grand and of the Tour de France. The tournament will take place inside Paris, in the hotel "La louisiane". There will have 4 rounds (2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday) with a top board. On Friday, everybody is invited to come to drink something and to play to several games.
8 non-French speaking players will come (2 English, 2 Dutch, 2 German, 1 Norwegian, 1 American) and it will be the final fight for the European Grand Prix, with Stefan Unger, Gwen Maggi, Emmanuel du Pontavice... So don't miss it!
