This Week in Europe
Issue 1 April 12, 2007
The goal of this section is to give you all the informations about diplomacy in Europe.

Easter weekend very charged

This weekend was charged with 3 tournaments in Europe (Anjou Feu in France, Gothcon in Sweden and Brussels' Cup in Belgium). 66 players played during this weekend. Whereas the solos in C-diplo are rare, there were two this weekend! The first one was done during the Brussels' Cup by Jean-Louis Delattre and the second one during the Gothcon by Dennis Andersson (in only 6 years). Congratulations to them. In spite of that, these two players didn't win their tournament.

Brussels' Cup : First step of the Grand Prix

This year, the Grand Prix began in Belgium with 24 players on 9 tables (3 heats). Yann Clouet won the tournament with 3 first place, followed by Jean-Louis Delattre (1 solo) and Emmanuel du Pontavice (1 first place). These three players took the first places in the Individual Grand Prix. Two teams were registered for the team competition. The "tri-nations" (Clouet, Ilievics, Lebedev) took the first place. It will be probably the team to beat this year.

Anjou Feu

18 players went to Angers, for the Anjou Feu. 4 boards were played on 3 heats. Fabien Grellier (2nd during the Masters this year) and Emmanuel Bernard dominated the tournament. Christophe Perrot took the third place. Congratulations to them. The scoring system was the "carré gagnant", which gave a lot of points to the players who had the bigger number of supply centers.

After 8 years of game, Geoff Bache won the tournament with 15 centers in front of Tommy Larsson (13 centers) and Marcus Bjorkander (only 3 centers).
